Week 3 Summary

Biblical friendship is more than simply having people around—it means showing up, loving well, and helping each other become more like Jesus. In a world where loneliness is common, the church can be a place where people are known, supported, and truly connected. Real friendship means choosing to lean in, carry one another’s burdens, and walk through life together.

  1. Beth talked about friendship as more than simply liking someone—it’s being connected, sharing life, and moving in the same direction. What stands out to you about that definition of friendship?

  2. Proverbs 17:17 says a friend loves at all times and is there in adversity. What do you think it looks like to be that kind of friend when someone is going through a hard season?

  3. Beth talked about the difference between self-preservation and leaning in—being willing to care deeply about someone, even when it costs us something. Where do you tend to protect yourself in relationships?

  4. Ephesians 5:1–2 calls us to imitate God and walk in love as Christ loved us. What could that look like in one of your friendships right now?

  5. Beth said that friendship is a lot of work, but it’s worth the work. What makes friendship difficult for you, and what helps you keep investing when it would be easier not to?

  6. Proverbs 13:20 says that walking with the wise makes us wise. Who are the people who help you become more like Jesus? What do they do that helps you grow?

  7. Beth challenged us to notice people, show up, be curious, listen, initiate friendship, and be vulnerable. Which of those comes most naturally to you, and which one is harder?

  8. Beth ended by challenging us to go and be inviters—to reach out to people who may be lonely or disconnected. Who is one person God might be inviting you to notice or move toward this week?
