Not My Own: Week #4 - Number Our Days (Beth Guckenberger)
You can earn more money. You can develop new skills. You can take better care of your body.
You cannot get time back.
Not My Own is a series about what it means to live as a steward rather than an owner — of your body, your skills, your finances, and this week: your time. It is the only resource God gives us that can never be replaced, refunded, or recovered. And most of us spend it like it belongs to us.
In Week 4, Beth Guckenberger takes us to Psalm 90 — the only psalm attributed to Moses, likely written near the end of 40 years of wilderness wandering, after watching a generation die — and unpacks one of the most quietly urgent prayers in all of Scripture:
"Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom."
That prayer isn’t about calculating how many days you have left. It’s about ordering your life according to God’s purposes. It’s about asking not "how many days do I have?" but "what kind of day is this — and what does it hold?"
