Kim Brown's Story

Shannon Niehaus | September 13, 2018

Kim Brown is a long-time volunteer in our Momentum 56 Ministry where she leads small groups of 5th and 6th graders. Kim does an amazing job connecting with students, praying with them, teaching them about the Bible, worshiping with them, and playing fun interactive games. We asked Kim a few questions to get to know her better.

How did you come to know Christ?

I gave my life to the Lord when I was in the sixth grade. I remember the day like it was yesterday. I was wearing a red dress that had a white top with red, yellow, and green piping around the sleeves and ruffles (yuck). At the time, I thought it was cute but now that I have put this on paper, ugh. It was a Friday night service and as I heard the preacher, I knew I had to give my life to the Lord.

How did you start coming to the Vineyard?

My Husband was invited to the Vineyard by a good friend of ours, so we went to a service. It was different from what we grew up with, but we gave it another visit, then went to a couple of other places. We gave the Vineyard another visit and here we are, still here.

How did you start serving?

I knew I wanted to do something but I didn't know what. I went to a meeting for what I thought would be just a one-time thing to get my feet wet. Well, I am still here in Momentum 56 and I love it!

Do you feel connected with the community at the Vineyard?

I feel very connected with the Vineyard community. One of my fears when I first came here was that would feel too big! I didn't know if I would be able to feel like I belonged here.

How has serving changed you?

Serving here has made a big BIG difference. This is one of the ways to get to know people and just being able to help others. Serving here has been such a blessing to me. I have met many wonderful people and have made many connections through serving.

A big thank you to Kim for sharing her serving story!
