Meet Denice Shirley who serves as a Team Lead in Vineyard Kids with children in grades 2-4. We couldn't do ministry without volunteers like Denice! She loves our kids and is dedicated to helping them grow in their relationship with God. We asked Denice a few questions about why she serves.
What do you like best about serving in Vineyard Kids?
I love encouraging our volunteers to do what they love and do best — love our kids! It makes my heart overjoyed to see the smiles and excitement from the children when they see the volunteers they have connected with.
How has serving others impacted your life?
Serving others has impacted how I pray and intercede for others. I love being able to bring others before our Abba, Father and watching Him do amazing work in and through them.
Serving has made me feel like the Vineyard community is my extended family. We grow together, love together, worship and praise together, and pray together.
Do you have a story about how you got started in this serving role?
When I first came to the Vineyard, I was glad to be able to come to church and leave (in an hour) without doing a thing. I was in a place where I needed to rest and just hear God's Word. That lasted for about 2 years and then the Lord starting nudging me and letting me know that it was time to get back into the harvest.
I've always loved working with our youth and served in youth ministry for many years at my previous church, so I knew that is where God was directing me to serve. They announced that there was going to be an orientation for new volunteers in Vineyard Kids, so I went and never turned back.
I truly love serving our young people. It is so awesome to hear them speak about what God is doing in their lives and they get it. They get it! That is something to shout about!
