Cara serves as a 6th-grade Shepherd Leader in Momentum 56 and on the VCC Street Photography Team.
"Cara loves Jesus and is committed to teaching children about Him. She is a recognized professional in Photojounalism, but she still takes time out of her busy weekend to teach preteens — which is not easy. Cara is a faithful servant and we are so thankful for her." — Emily Francis-Foster, Senior Director, Vineyard Kids
What do you like best about serving at the Vineyard?
I’ve been teaching in VCC’s children's ministry for a little over 10 years now and I love forming relationships with the children and their families. I am thankful that I am able to help children learn more about Jesus. I have been a professional photojournalist for 23 years and love being able to share my gift with VCC by volunteering as a photographer.
Do you have a story about how you got started in this serving role?
When I first started attending VCC my daughter Angel was 8 years old, and I wanted to serve in some capacity where she’d be learning. At first, I thought I’d be a teacher's assistant or something else other than a lead teacher. After a few weeks of shadowing a veteran teacher, there was a need for a substitute and I was asked to fill in. I have been teaching ever since, and that was 10 years ago.
Do you feel connected with the community at the Vineyard?
I feel very connected at the Vineyard, serving on two different ministries and being a part of a small group has helped me formed some amazing friendships.
How has serving others impacted your life?
I believe serving others has also helped me prosper in my job. I know I have a special gift with connecting to my co-workers and other people I come into contact with on my job.
