To celebrate Mother's Day, each day this week we're highlighting a mom or grandma who serves in Vineyard Kids. We interviewed just a few of these amazing women to get to know them better.
Get to know Kim Brown.
Kim is married to Louis R. Brown, Jr. and has been attending the Vineyard for 11 years. She has two adult children, Camille and Cassondra, a son RJ (13 years old), and 3 grandchildren. Kim serves as a Small Group Shepherd in Momentum 56, our ministry for 5th & 6th-grade students.
What are your favorite hobbies?
Cooking and trying and tasting different foods. Decorating and making mini-garden fairy lands.
What do you love about being a Mom and Grandmother?
I love just being there for my kids and grandkids, spending time with them and watching them have fun.
What do you love about serving in Vineyard Kids?
I love the kids, seeing them grow, and their excitement about prayer and praise reports. They share with me, ask me to pray for them, and share updates with me. I enjoy being around the kids and the fact that they want to be around me. I enjoy seeing the changes that happen in the kids as they grow bolder at church and in their faith.
What do you do as a family to pray or study the Bible together?
We pray together, share and talk with each other about our prayers and requests. We write about what we are reading.
What kind of prayer do you pray the most often for your children and grandchildren?
I pray that they walk in wisdom each day. I pray that God watches over them and protects them from dangers, both seen and unseen, and that they would be a light among their peers.
If you could share with a new mom one piece of advice, what would that be?
Love your children. Pray for God’s wisdom on how to guide each of them. Each child has their own personality so what works for one may not be what the other child needs.
