Your Guide to Celebrating Advent

Daniel McKee | November 14, 2024

Christmas is almost here! Preparations abound with decorating, hosting, purchasing, wrapping, cooking, planning and scheduling memorable traditions for families.

These are all really good things but in the hustle of it all I am often struck with the line from “Joy to the World” that reminds us to “let every heart prepare him room.” Sometimes life feels so full, it is easy to miss the importance of preparing our hearts to celebrate well.

Advent is an ancient Christian tradition of preparing our hearts to celebrate Jesus as reigning King of our lives through intentionality on the four Sundays before Christmas Day.

Join with your family or friends to eat a meal together and reflect on the importance of this holiday, the greater story we find ourselves in, and prepare your hearts together to give him room to fill you with hope, love, joy and peace.

Here's an Advent Guide that's designed to simplify and introduce this practice to families in a very doable practice of reading, reflection and worship. Enjoy the Christmas season to its fullness this year!
